The AfDB is committed to mobilizing $25 billion in climate finance for Africa by 2025, as well as a variety of other bank initiatives to tackle climate adaptation.
The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, made this disclosure at the Montreal Fireside Chat Meeting organized by the International Economic Forum of the Americas, entitled “A Sustainable Recovery for People and the Planet.”
During the chat event, Adesina participated in discussions with Inger Andersen, Under Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of UNEP, and was chaired by Jean Lebel, President of the International Development Research Center (IDRC).
The discussion centered on the following three primary areas:
Present situation with regard to COVID-19 and climate change.
Stimulus and rehabilitation policies.
The role of the private sector in the recovery process.
