A 47-year-old Toronto-bound man reportedly died from the COVID-19 Wednesday morning. Paramedics were called to a home in Newcastle, Ontario, just after 6:30 a.m.
Toronto Sun reported that the man complained of shortness of breath and loss of taste. He told paramedics he had arrived in Canada from Nigeria, Africa the previous day. That information was corroborated by sources, who told the Sun the man had arrived in Toronto on a Delta Airlines flight from Detroit Tuesday morning. He got on a connecting Toronto-bound flight after flying from Lagos, Nigeria, to Atlanta. He reportedly informed 911 that he “believed he had covid”.
It was confirmed that the man took a Covid-19 test in Nigeria but did not wait to receive the result of the test before flying from Lagos, Nigeria.
“The man, a married father of two, was pronounced dead at the scene and the Canadian Border Services Agency was notified, sources said”.
Transport Canada requires all Canada-bound passengers to test negative for the virus.
