Residents of Girgir town, Jakusko Local Government Area of Yobe State were thrown into pandemonium when a heavy downpour of rain and windstorm affected houses and properties.
The incident, according to a Girgir Community member, Abubakar Musa said: “A heavy downpour of rain accompanied by a windstorm today evening affected our houses, mostly mud houses, the roofs have been blown up including our water supply source, the overhead tank fell due to the pressure of the wind and rainfall”.
He revealed that the level of the damage cannot be ascertained until tomorrow.
“We are appealing to government and well-meaning individuals to come to our aid”. He pleaded.
Executive Secretary of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje confirmed receiving the report of the incident.
“Yes, we have received the report and we are currently talking with our partners on how to pull resources to the area”.
